Storm On! Last year we had another phenomenal year of academic and athletic achievement:
Ranked in the top 5% nationally and #12 of high schools in Oregon by US News and World Report
Ranked #2 in the nation, for the 2nd year in a row, by MaxPreps Cup for athletics (10 state championships!)
Highest number of students taking AP tests in the school history with 67% scoring 3 or higher
82% of our seniors are enrolled in over 60 colleges for next year and earned more than $2 million in scholarships
This year we will focus on preparing students for their future by learning how to effectively navigate the digital landscape of learning. Our three core projects include:
1. Encourage and support students in on-line learning options 2. Provide "blended" or hybrid classes that combine the best of digital and brick-and-mortar instruction 3. Participate as one of 5 pilot schools in the Bend - La Pine School District's 1:1 digital textbook conversion Providing all students with iPad's, appropriate instruction on digital platforms and teaching them how to safely and productively use on-line tools is a major focus for the 2013-2014 school year. We encourage parents and community to check our website for progress on these initiatives throughout the year.
Far more important than athletics, academics and digital initiatives, however, is the change and growth in the lives of our students over the course of their years at Summit High School. Our mission is to develop those who will positively impact their world; to that end this year we will continually pursue student opportunities for service, leadership, and influence in school and community.
