Welcome to Bend-La Pine Schools
I am proud to walk alongside the students and staff who make
Bend-La Pine Schools one of the highest-achieving school districts in the state of Oregon. Here, students and staff continually excel: winning awards and being recognized regularly at the state and national level for their academic and athletic efforts, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, creativity and ingenuity.
We are fortunate at Bend-La Pine Schools to have teachers and support staff who are second to none. We are able to recruit and retain some of the most talented leaders around. Our teachers average 14 years of experience, and 98% meet federal guidelines as "highly qualified."
Three Oregon Principal of the Year award recipients are among our
ranks, and many more have earned distinctions such as Oregon Art
Teacher of the Year, Oregon District Librarian of the Year, Oregon
Outstanding Business Educator and Oregon's Presidential Award for
Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Our support staff
have been equally recognized with state and national awards going to
our business, transportation and nutrition services leaders for their
work to ensure our students and staff have the teaching and learning
environments they deserve.
Thanks to this collaboration, we are able to deliver high-quality curricula
and instruction to students, emphasizing early and ongoing literacy skills,
deep understanding of mathematical content and practices, enriching
arts electives, foreign languages, career and technical education (CTE) programs, college-articulated classwork and more.
The education our students receive is preparing them for their futures. Graduates in 2014 earned more than seven million dollars in scholarships and awards and were accepted to prestigious colleges and universities across the US. While enrolled in our schools, our students earned more than 9,000 college quarter-hour credits in the 2013-14 school year alone.
Staff and teachers' efforts to engage students at high levels are paying
dividends. In 2014, we made headlines when the Oregon Department of
Education reported that 85% of our 27 schools earned Oregon's highest
ratings, 4's and 5's, on the Oregon Report Card. The same year, our high schools made U.S. News & World Report's annual "Best High Schools" national rankings.
Our schools are exceptional places to grow and learn, thanks to the commitment of our staff and students - and you, the parents and guardians of our more than 17,000 students. It is an honor to serve you
and your children as we look forward to another exceptional year in
Bend-La Pine Schools. Thank you for partnering with us.
